Known to possess the swag of his time, Lord Krishna was a lady charmer, a natkhat butter thief, and a charioteer guide of Arjun in Mahabharat. We all are aware that he was the 8th avatar of God Vishnu who saved the honor of queen Draupadi in the game of dice but very less of you know, there are interesting things that are still are unknown about him.

1.Krishna has 108 names.
Here are a few ones: Rishikesha, Keshava, Murlimanohar, Ranchod, Gopala, Dwarkadheesh, Nandakumara, Madhusudan, Navnitachora, Parthasarathi, Madhava, Yadhunandana, Gopinatha, Nandalal and other 94 names.
2.Krishna’s skin color was dark, not blue.
Derived from his name, Krishna meant “all attractive”, he was known to possess beauty at his best. Although, as portrayed in the scriptures and ancient paintings as blue in color, Lord Krishna was dark, though due to his magnetic aura which had blue hues, he was depicted and mentioned as a god with blue skin.
3.Krishna had 8 wives.
Although Rukmini, the Vidarbha princess was quite known and famous, there were seven more wives of Krishna namely Satyabhama, Jambavati, Kalindi, Mitravinda, Nagnajiti, Bhadra, and Lakshmana.
4.No evidence of Radha.
Despite the popularity of Radha Krishna love tale, there are no traces of the existence of Radha in Shrimad Bhagavatam, Mahabharata or Harivansham.
5.Krishna was a part of Jain religion too.
He is represented as one of the Triads, named Vasudeva.
6.Krishna in Buddhist Jataka
In Vaibhav Jataka, Lord Krishna is mentioned as the prince of India who beheads his evil uncle Kansa and proves himself legendary by killing all the kings to rule over Jambudiva.
7.An ageless figure
Krishna seemed to be the real god of nature who was beyond the limits of nature. In historical depictions of the Puranas, he didn’t seem to age even after decades. In one incident, Duryodhana tried to arrest Krishna where his body burst open showing all creations within him.
8.Krishna was related to the Pandavas.
Krishna’s father, Vasudev was actually Kunti’s brother. Kunti was the mother of the Pandavas.
9.Krishna slain Eklavya, his cousin.
Krishna granted a boon to Eklavya to be reincarnated so as to seek revenge on Dronacharya, who chopped off his thumb. Eklavya was reincarnated as Dhrishtadyumna who stepped out of the yajna fire for the sole purpose of killing Dronacharya.
10.In modern India, the Radha-Krishna relationship is used to legitimize premarital sex.
Taking the Radha-Krishna relationship as the basis, in Indian court it has argued that the premarital sex cannot be regarded as an offense.
11.Krishna was the Manifestation of God
It is believed that Krishna was incarnated to spread the word of god to the people of Earth. Thus, it is revealed he shares an exalted image with Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, and the Bab.
12.Krishna bought Guru Sandipani Muni’s son back to life.
As a guru dakshina, his guru Sandipani asked Krishna to bring back his son back to life who was trapped by the lord of death (Yama). So, Lord Krishna traveled to the spot and restored his life.
13.Krishna’s conch was the signal to begin the battle as well to indicate the victory of Dharma.
Krishna’s conch named Panchjanya had powerful reverberations when blown. It was the war cry for the battle of Pandavas and at the end was blown to symbolize the victory of righteousness.
14.Draupadi was the sister of Lord Krishna
It is believed that Lord Krishna and Draupadi were siblings. She was the incarnation of Goddess Parvati while he was the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. And as foretold, Lord Vishnu is the brother of Goddess Parvati.
15.A Number of curses were responsible for Lord Krishna’s death.
The Kurukshetra war left all 100 of Gandhari’s sons dead. When Krishna visited to pay his condolences, the grieving mother cursed him along with the Yadu dynasty that both of them would perish in 36 years.
When Krishna didn’t apply Kheer on Sage Durvasa’s feet, he cursed Lord Krishna that he would die by his foot.
Lord Krishna’s foot was mistakenly shot by a hunter, Jara. Discovering his mistake, the hunter begged for forgiveness. Though, Krishna revealed that he himself was Rama and his Adharma against Vali by shooting him from behind was now reaping the result of his Karma. And thus, Vali who has been reincarnated as Jara was destined to kill Krishna.
