Perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, and uplifting mood, here’s a fudgy chocolate birthday cake recipe. So, wear your apron and chef hat!

Ingredients Required:

  • ¾ cups of melted butter
  • 2-4 eggs
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup of milk

Let’s get started:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Grease (you can use melted butter or ghee for this purpose) and flour cake tins. Instead of the regular round shape, you can use heart-shaped cake tins.

Step 3: Whisk cocoa powder in boiling water and set aside.

Step 4: In a large bowl whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda until combined well for the cake batter. Optionally, you can add a pinch of salt to perk up the depth and flavors of other ingredients.

Step 5: Add to this mixture, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. You can replace milk with vegetable oil. Beat it with a mixture to get a smooth consistency. Now, combine whisk cocoa powder in this batter in a steady stream and mix well.

Step 6: Pour batter in cake tins and tap the tins against the kitchen counter to help batter settle. Bake the cake for 30-40 minutes. To check, insert a toothpick into the middle of the cake and if it comes out clean, it’s done. If not, bake for a few more minutes and repeat the procedure with the toothpick.

Step 7: This step will decide whether your cake will bloom or not. After taking out the cake from the oven, allow it to rest and cool for a few minutes.

Your basic chocolate cake is ready to be relished for a happily-ever-after feeling, but how about frosting and garnishing it to make it a cake from a fairyland?

Here’s how to design your chocolate cake:

1. For chocolate cake frosting, you will need plain chocolate and cream. Mix chocolate and cream until silky. If you want it sugary, you can add sugar as per your requirement and vanilla extract for extra flavor. Cover the chocolate cake with this frosting, completely. If you want, you can also layer your cake with this frosting.

2. You can top your chocolate cake with frosting and garnish with Kitkat bars or Ferrero Rocher balls for an exquisite taste and flavor.

3. If you are baking a cake for your kid, embellish it with colorful and sugary sprinkles and watch him/her go gaga over it.
